Serious assault police charges, Arundel

Police have charged a man with serious assault of police following an incident in Arundel overnight.

Around 12.40am police were conducting routine RBT duties at the intersection of Olsen Avenue and Napper Road when it will be alleged, a male passenger alighted from a vehicle.

Police will allege the passenger was attempting to dispose of an implement and refused to comply with police directions.

As police attempted to restrain the man, it will be alleged he elbowed a male officer in the face and then punched him, causing a cut to his mouth and sprained another male officer’s fingers.

A 31-year-old Labrador man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police, and one count each of obstructing police and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

A female juvenile will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
