Two people are assisting police with their enquiries after a traffic crash involving a suspected stolen car in Upper Coomera tonight.
Around 7.05pm, police were advised two males had fled the scene of a single vehicle traffic crash on Antler Street.
Police suspected the crashed car to have been stolen.
The Gold Coast dog squad attended and commenced tracking the two males, before subsequently locating them in a nearby street.
While attempting to take a 16-year-old boy into custody, he failed to comply with five verbal warnings to stop.
As he continued to run from police, he struck Police Dog Hondo on his head, and pulled his ears.
He was apprehended by the police dog shortly after.
The boy was treated by the Queensland Ambulance Service for minor stomach and back injuries before being released back into police custody.
PD Hondo was not seriously injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
