Coomera Police Division are warning local businesses to be aware that Police are still receiving reports of counterfeit $50 notes being produced to local business.
Police advise that offenders will often make small purchases at busy times and produce a $50 note as payment. Police advise that business owners should take the time to examine all $50 notes produced and if there is any doubt, to contact police and report the matter.
Small business and local organisations are the most effected as they are left out of pocket after providing frequent amounts greater than $45 in change to the offenders.
Police request that if possible, to obtain any details of the persons who presented the counterfeit notes, including registration details of any vehicles driven.
Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
