Charges, Burleigh Waters

A 38-year-old man has been charged after an incident at a Burleigh Waters shop yesterday afternoon.

Around 5.20pm, the man entered the Classic Way business allegedly armed with a knife.

Two female employees aged 24 and 54 pushed the man towards the front door where three men held the man until police arrived.

The 24-year-old woman was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital with non-life threatening injuries while two other people received minor injuries.

The man has been charged with three counts of unlawful wounding and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, assault occasioning bodily harm, going armed so as to cause fear, possession of a knife and contravene a direction.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
