Metricon Stadium, Carrara will be hosting Round 4 of the Australian Football League (AFL), between the Gold Coast Suns and Port Adelaide Power. To assist in the safe and effective regulation of traffic certain restrictions will be implemented.
On Saturday 20 April 2013 no stopping zones will apply on the following roads:
- Nerang-Broadbeach Road, between Nielsens Road and Nerang Train Station, Nerang.
- Nerang Broadbeach Service Road between Ross Street and Garden Grove, Carrara.
- Birmingham Road, Carrara,
- Ross Street, Carrara
- Alabaster Drive, Carrara
- Plateau Crescent Carrara.
Change to speed zone to 60km/h on Nerang –Broadbeach Road, Carrara.
Please Note there is a new ‘Stop Drop and Go Zone’ situated on Nerang-Broadbeach Road adjacent to the stadium. This zone will be clearly signed on game days and is two minute standing only.
The Taxi Rank has been relocated closer to the stadium and is located in the car park of the basketball stadium situated to the west of the stadium.
Please Note there are New Changes to Plateau Crescent. Plateau Crescent is now designated Residents only Parking. A new two minute zone has been created on game days along Plateau Crescent.
Resident only access (resident permit required) to the following roads:
- Lakeview Drive
- Maryland Avenue, Carrara
- Access Road to RiversideHomeParkRetirementVillage.
Road Closure – Prior to 9:30pm no access to Alabaster Drive, Carrara.
Pedestrians – Between the hours 5.30pm and 11.30pm drivers should avoid travelling on Nerang Broadbeach Road due to an increase of pedestrian traffic entering and leaving Metricon Stadium. If drivers cannot avoid these roads drivers are to drive with extra diligence.
Park and Ride
Free public transport services – Patrons are reminded to utilise the park and ride services from Boowaggan Road and Pacific Fair, shuttle services from Nerang Train Station and local route bus services throughout the Gold Coast. The bus service will commence at approximately 5:20pm.
