Taxi driver robbed, Gold Coast

Four men have been arrested following the alleged assault and robbery of a taxi driver at Biggera Waters last night.

Around 11.40pm a group of men caught a taxi on Compass Drive and asked to be taken to Broadbeach.

The group became abusive towards the driver who then stopped the taxi in Harbour Town Drive.

One man tampered with the onboard fire extinguisher before allegedly spraying the contents all over the driver.

Personal items and a cash tin containing coins were then allegedly stolen before the men fled on foot.

The same group of people later damaged a vehicle and shop window on Brisbane Road.

The 67-year-old taxi driver was treated at the Gold Coast Hospital for irritation to his eyes and face.

A 17-year-old from Broadbeach was charged with robbery whilst armed in company, possession of a dangerous drug and state false name.

An 18-year-old from Elliott Heads was charged with robbery whilst armed in company and wilful damage.

Both remain in custody and are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court later this morning.

A 17-year-old from Paradise Point was charged with stealing and a 17-year-old from Molendinar was charged with possession of a dangerous drug.

Both are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 7.
