Closure of Operation Juliet Crime – Gold Coast

Three men have been charged with a range of offences after police executed a number of search warrants at Gold Coast residences this morning.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad working, on Operation Juliet Crime, targeted loan sharking, money laundering, drug trafficking and extortion offences on the Gold Coast.

Police allegedly recovered quantities of dangerous drugs, firearms and more than $22,000 as a result of this morning’s search warrants.

A 43-year-old man from Broadbeach Waters has been charged with five counts of extortion, serious assault, assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a firearm and possession of a drug utensil.

A 51-year-old man from Miami has been charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs, four counts of extortion, serious assault, two charges of fraud and possession of a firearm.

A 44-year-old Worongary man has been charged with two counts of extortion, one charge of serious assault and failing to secure firearms.

A 40-year-old man from Miami has been charged with extortion.

The men will be appearing in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Police investigations are continuing with further charges expected.
