Neighbour Day is celebrated nationally every year on the last Sunday of March. This year it falls on March 29, this coming Sunday.
Neighbour Day was founded in Melbourne in March 2003 by Andrew Heslop who is a community activist & social commentator, when an elderly lady had been deceased for two years before she was discovered.
We live such busy lives and as a result we are often very time poor, Neighbour Day provides us with the perfect reminder and opportunity to briefly step out of the rat race and take a moment to reconnect with our neighbours. Why not knock on their door and say hi, or share a friendly wave when passing each other by, or you could have a chat over a cup of coffee or hold a barbeque.
The City of Gold Coast Council has embraced Neighbour Day and are supporting a number of Events across the City. Please take a look at the below Event Listing to find out if one is happening near you. We hope to see you there.
