Holiday periods are generally recognised by police as a time of year when incidents of property crime, e.g. thefts, break and enters to both dwellings and commercial properties, thefts of and thefts from motor vehicles may spike. This can be attributed to the fact that persons may be on holiday and absent from work and home properties for extended periods making an easier target for thieves.
Broadwater Police Beat officers are requesting members of the public in the Hope island area to pay particular attention to home and vehicle security during the Easter holidays. Officers also recommend the public to look after neighbours property in their absence and to report any suspicious activity to police.
