A Gold Coast School is counting the cost of a huge damage bill after vandals broke into classrooms and smashed up property on the weekend.
About ten people have used pavers to smash a large amount of windows to five buildings at Robina State High School at 8.15pm on Saturday night. The group then entered two of the buildings and caused significant damaged by smashing holes in the walls, knocking over cabinets and destroying property. They fled when the school’s security arrived. Some of those involved were described as boys, 160cm tall, wearing grey hooded jackets.
School Principal Julie Warwick said the damage had left students and staff very upset but the school had pulled together to clean things up. “It just seems very random with the intent to damage as much as possible,” she said.
