On day 2 of Project Booyah mentoring, the team took part in the Queensland Education ‘Set for life’ program designed to engage them in literacy and numeracy.
After this Karate Instructor Phil Cox took them through some basic self defence skills. It is important that they are able to defend themselves if they are in a vulnerable position.
Unfortunately with some of the at risk behaviours we are aware of, they sometimes don’t make the best decisions around their personal safety.
The hope is that they make better choices not to get in those situations in the first place, but at least if they do they have some skills to help them defend and escape.
