Gold Coast City Council Division 5 Representative Tracey Gilmore has contacted Nerang Police raising concerns of two recent alleged incidents of men purporting to be Council Animal Management Officers.
Both incidents are reported to be in close proximity to each other and have involved these men enquiring about dogs in the Bartlett Avenue area in Nerang.
Senior Sergeant Peter Gordon of Nerang Police said Cr Gilmore confirmed with police that there were no Council Animal Management Inspectors working within the Nerang area on Saturday the 15th August or on Tuesday the 18th August 2015.
All Gold Coast City Council Officers carry official proof of identity in the form of GCCC photographic identification, which will be displayed either on a lanyard or will be available for production.
If any person is approached by anyone claiming to be from the Gold Coast City Council they are encouraged to ask for the production of their official identification.
Nerang Police are conducting investigations into the allegations and anyone who may have any information relating to these incidents are encouraged to contact Nerang Police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
