The theft of number plates from motor vehicles in the Robina Division continues to be of concern.

Officer in Charge of the Robina Police Facility, Senior Sergeant Andrew Frick said it was important that people took preventative measures to discourage such theft – theft which can also be attributed to the continuing theft of petrol.

‘The theft of plates can be costly and inconvenient to the owner,” Sergeant Frick said.

“Stolen number plates may be used in illegal activities, such as petrol theft, toll fines and even assault and robbery.”

As part of a Crime Prevention Initiative, Robina Police in partnership with Volunteers in Polcicing and the Gold Coast Crime Prevention Unit, are offering to supply and fit anti theft one-way screws to secure number plates to your vehicle.

When this type of screw is fitted, it makes removal of the number plate difficult without showing damage to the plate – which in turn deters theft of same as it makes the plate easily recognisable and suspicious by patolling police.

So, on Monday, September 21, from 9.00am to 1.00pm, come along to the Robina Town Centre Police Shop Front, Lido Promenade and take advantage of this free service, by the Queensland Police Service VIP’s and the Robina Police.
