It started as a routine enquiry about beer bottles being thrown off a balcony and ended with emergent searches of three units, four people charged with six drug related offences and the seizure of more than 220 MDMA tablets and 20 grams of crushed tablets.
Uniformed officers from Surfers Paradise were called to a high rise apartment complex in Enderley Avenue around 6.30pm last night following reports of bottles being thrown from a balcony.
Police and hotel management attended the unit with officers entering the apartment after the occupants refused to open the door.
It will be alleged that police located drug paraphernalia and an emergent search was conducted.
That search, and subsequent police investigation, led officers to two other units within the complex which were also searched.

Acting Chief Superintendent Michelle Stenner praised the work of the uniformed officers in uncovering a significant amount of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), both in tablet and powder form.
“Nothing is ever routine or ordinary in policing. You never know where a ‘simple enquiry’ will lead, where a knock on the door will take you.
“The officers did a great job in uncovering and investigating this case,” A/Chief Superintendent Stenner said.
