On Saturday April 9, Seafire will see Queensland’s greatest pyro-technicians battling it out in the skies above the Gold Coast with cutting-fireworks timed to a vibrant and thumping musical score.

This year Seafire will also include a special tribute to the QPS and fallen servicemen and women, which will see POLAIR lighting from the sky, rhino buggies on the beach, an Oath reading, a police piper and a complementary fireworks display.

Seafire is a free, family-friendly event, taking place on Saturday April 9 at 7pm at Surfers Paradise Beach. For more information, please visit the Surfers Paradise Alliance website here.

Gold Coast police would like to advise motorists that delays and traffic congestion may be experienced at the following road closures:

  • 6pm to 9pm: Full road closure of The Esplanade which will be closed between the intersections with Hanlan Street and the roundabout at the front of the Soul building.
  • 6pm to 9pm: Full road closure of the intersection of Beach Road and Ferny Avenue (lights set to amber) with traffic control by police.
  • 6pm to 9pm: Temporary closure of right hand turn into Beach Road from the Bruce Bishop car park exit.
  • 5.45pm to 9pm: Temporary closure of right hand turn into Beach Road from Surfers Paradise Boulevard.
