Police have charged two men following investigations into two bag snatching incidents in Southport this week.
Around 2.45pm on Tuesday, April 12 a 19-year-old woman was walking along North Street when it is alleged the men on a moped rode slowly behind her before grabbing her bag and riding off.
In a second incident it will further be alleged around 4pm the same day the pair on a moped attempted to steal a 28-year-old’s handbag in Queen Street but the woman managed to hold on to her bag.
Neither women were physically injured during the incidents.
A 22-year-old Nerang man has been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and possess drug utensils.
An 18-year-old Nerang man has been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Both men will appear in Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
