Police have charged a man and another is assisting with enquiries after a suspected stolen car was located over the border this morning.

Just before 1am, New South Wales Police advised a car that had been pursued by officers in Tweed Heads had now crossed into Queensland.

A short time later, police received information from members of the public that people had been seen running from the vehicle, now parked in Adina Avenue at Bilinga.

A cordon was put in place to allow police dogs and their handlers to track the pair.

They were located in a closed garage on Pacific Parade and were taken into custody.

It will be alleged the car involved in the offence was stolen from a Daisy Hill Road, Daisy Hill address on April 14.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and obstruct police.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 18.

Another man will continue to assist police with their enquiries today.

Investigations are continuing.
