With Mother’s Day fast approaching we thought the best people to talk about the role of policing and being a mum were their kids!!
Some of the Gold Coast children of serving female police officers were asked “What does your mummy do for a job?”
Here are their creative and insightful responses:
- She has a gun and puts naughty people in jail.
- She is a super hero.
- She drives the police car fast.
- She is a princess!!
Some older children’s responses about their mum being a police officer:
- Mums different, it’s cool to think she’s out there busting criminals and at home she’s a typical mum, getting me to do chores.
- I like that mum can be diverse and different.
- It’s good when she works nights because we get to have BFN (Blokey Food Nights)!
- I like that mum’s a police officer. She gets to work different shifts. Sometimes she can take us to school and sometimes she can pick us up.
- I don’t like it when she has to work nights because then I have to be quiet in the morning.
- It’s tough living with a police woman but I get through it because she’s my mum.
Lots of mothers in the QPS will actually be working on Sunday and forgoing that one morning to sleep in and get served breakfast in bed. So this Sunday when you see a female police officer out and about, give her that extra smile. She’s not with her family, instead she is making sure that yours is safe.
Below is a lovely picture one of our QPS children drew for her mum this Mother’s Day.
