Sergeant Nillin Lynch joined the Queensland Police Service in 2004.  Her original motivation was due to a friend, who was a police officer, inspiring her to join.

“The work he did sounded so fascinating, and I knew it would be a very rewarding career,” she said.

Starting her career in general duties at Broadbeach, Sergeant Lynch now works at Southport Prosecutions.

“I love the work in Prosecutions. It is always so interesting and very satisfying.”

Sergeant Lynch is the mother to two young girls, five and seven years old, and stepmother to two other girls who are nine and 12 years old. Recently her daughter Kate attended a dress up day at kindy where she got to dress up like her Mum at work.

Nillin says that all her daughters think it’s cool that both Mum and Dad are police officers and the younger ones especially love visiting the station.

“Juggling motherhood and career in the police can be challenging but I feel it’s valuable personally as a role model for my daughters and for my own sense of self-worth.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there. We hope you have a great day.
