Unlawful use of motor vehicle, Helensvale

Detectives from Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following the alleged unlawful use of a motor vehicle at Helensvale last night.

It will be alleged at about 10pm police from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol (RAP) were patrolling Oxley Drive when they sighted the stolen vehicle which drove off at speed from police view.

Further patrols located the vehicle which had crashed at the intersection of Helensvale Road and Ben Dalley Drive.

Police arrested both occupants at the scene.

A 17-year-old man from Paradise Point was charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, possession of a knife in a public place and breach of bail condition.

A 20-year-old man from Coombabah was charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

Both men are scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 3.
