Mudgeeraba Police urge all residents in hinterland properties to have a Fire Plan in place, to practice it with family members and talk to neighbours about these issues also.
- Take action to reduce your exposure to fire by cleaning gutters and removing fuel loads around your property.
- Make sure you have an escape route planed in the event that a fire occurs.
- Display a prominent house or lot number, in case it is required in an emergency.
- Ensure there is adequate access to your property for fire trucks – four metres wide by four metres high, with a turn-around area.
- Mow your grass regularly.
- Conduct maintenance checks on pumps, generators and water systems.
- Check the first aid kit is fully stocked.
- Make sure you have appropriate insurance for your home and vehicles.
Remember – “ Prepare. Act. Survive.”
