Fifteen schoolies were arrested overnight on 17 charges, mainly public nuisance and street related, as crowd numbers remained about the same as previous nights at Surfers Paradise schoolies celebrations.
Police were generally pleased with crowd behaviour with a significant drop from the previous night for schoolies fined for drinking in a public place. There were 29 schoolies overnight that were issued with liquor infringement notices for this offence.
Overnight there were two schoolies arrested for minor drug offences.
There were 33 people arrested on 55 charges which were not schoolies related and were mainly for public nuisance.
There were also 23 liquor infringement notices issued to non-schoolies for drinking in a public place.
Police would like to reinforce the message to schoolies about staying safe and looking after their mates.
In particular police would like to issue a strong reminder to schoolies about balcony safety and if an offence is detected police will act with the full force of the law.
