Emergent situation declared, Currumbin

Police have declared an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act following an incident in Currumbin this morning.

Around 7am, officers responded to reports of a disturbance and concerns for the welfare of a man at a unit complex on the Gold Coast Highway.

When they arrived at the address, a 42-year-old man inside the unit refused to speak with police.

A 16-year-old boy is also inside the unit.

An emergent situation was declared at 9am between Gold Coast Highway and Flat Rock Creek and police remain on scene.

There is no further information available at this time.
