mugeerabaInvestigators from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crimes Firearms Investigation Team, with the assistance of Mudgeeraba police executed a search warrant at a Mudgeeraba residence this morning.

The search resulted in the location and seizure of a firearm, cannabis and cannabis plants, ammunition, a set of knuckle dusters and a number of plastic firearms parts.

A 28-year-old Mudgeeraba man was arrested and charged with drugs and weapons offences.  He is expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court later this month in answer to the charges.

Investigations in relation to the 3D printed weapon’s parts are continuing.

Detective Inspector Scott Knowles of the Major and Organised Crime Squad commented on the 3D printed parts saying that people using weapons created through this process risk serious injury to themselves and others.

“With weapons and parts manufactured this way still being classified as a firearm under current legislation, people can also see themselves before the courts for manufacturing and possessing these items,” Detective Inspector Knowles said.mudgeeraba3mudgeeraba2
