Police have charged a man following the assault of two people in Southport this morning.
Police will allege that at around 11.20am, they were called to a Marine Parade business following reports that a man had seriously assaulted a woman and then assaulted a man who came to her aid.
It will further be alleged the man ran from the premises upon arrival of police but was apprehended a short distance away.
A 35-year-old Japanese National has been charged with sexual assault while armed, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, unlawful possession of a Category D/H/R weapon and possession of a knife in a public place.
He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
