Palm Beach Police are appealing to home owners in the Palm Beach and Burleigh Heads area to ensure their house and property are secure when they are out after a number of recent break and enters and entry into vehicles.

When a vehicle is left unattended ensure that the vehicle is locked at all times, even when it is in your own driveway. Ensure that personal belongings, especially items of value are not left in the vehicle.

As many of these thefts seem to be occurring overnight please ensure that you lock your doors and close the windows around your house. The recent thefts have been opportunistic and thieves will look for easy entry and exit points into a house or vehicle and what could be easier than an open door. Do not to leave your small valuable belonging such as wallets, phones and keys out overnight.

Property is less likely to be stolen if it is clearly marked with identification. Not only does it reduce the risk of the property being stolen it also increases the chances of the property being returned if located. A property identification brochure and warning stickers are available from Palm Beach Police Station.

Be aware of your house surroundings and people that may be in your area.
