At the Australasian Council of Women and Policing Awards in Sydney overnight Coomera Police Station’s Sergeant Doneena Henry took out the High Achiever Award in the Most Outstanding Female Practitioner category.

Sergeant Henry was nominated for being an outstanding and inspirational young female officer, who had demonstrated time and again her ability to take on and achieve great success in new and unfamiliar roles.

Recognised widely as a dynamic and motivated person Sergeant Henry has been described with having an untapped potential and a positive role model to junior female staff.

The nomination also described Sergeant Henry as an influential leader, equally able to work in operational and support roles, and is tireless in her efforts.

Inspector Owen Hortz congratulated Sergeant Henry on behalf of all of the District management team and said how immensely proud they are at the recognition.

“Sergeant Henry always gives 100 per cent and makes a profound impact wherever she works,” Sergeant Henry said.

“This significant award is a credit to her.  Conference organisers noted that there was a particularly strong field of candidates to choose from this year, so to be recognised by her peers in this way is an honour indeed.”

Inspector Hortz said for those that know Sergeant Henry as a quiet achiever it will come as no shock she was surprised by the award.

After accepting the award Sergeant Henry said she wanted to make a positive difference in whatever she does.
