Detectives from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad’s Firearms Team have charged two men after allegedly locating a number of illegal firearms at a Lower Beechmont residence this morning.
The firearms team executed a search warrant this morning at a Beechmont Road residence. During the search police allegedly seized an air rifle, .22 calibre shortened semi-automatic rifle with pistol grip and scope, a second shortened .22 calibre rifle, a crossbow and a quantity of ammunition.
A 38-year-old man from Beechmont has been charged with unlawful possession of Cat A firearm, unlawful possession of Cat H firearm, unlawful possession of shortened firearm, unlawful possession of Cat M weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a unlicensed category H firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
A 19 –year-old man from Beechmont has been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition.
Both men are scheduled to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court on August 16, 2013.
