On Monday March 9, Robina Police conducted a joint community engagement and traffic enforcement initiative in regard to addressing after school traffic issues, such as double parking, parking in bus zones and other local traffic issues in and around the various schools situated within the Robina Police Division.
Utilising troops from Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast Traffic Policing Command and Robina staff, the Varsity Senior and Varsity Junior Colleges were visited.
As well as several verbal communications to non-compliant drivers, the staff issued a number of traffic infringement notices for speeding, parking, use of mobile phones and conducted 47 roadside breath tests.
The feedback from school staff revealed that traffic movement, pick up zones and general behaviour has never been so orderly to the point where even the school children who use push bikes for transport, were wearing their bicycle helmets.
Whilst seemingly minor in nature, the Robina Police are committed to promoting and enforcing safe driving habits, compliance with the general road rules and regulations with the end result being a safer environment for your school aged children to attend and leave the school premises and to gently educate those parents who may create an unsafe environment through thoughtless use of their motor vehicle and driving behaviours.
The Robina Police would like to thank those parents who understand the big picture in regards to public safety, and traffic safety, and thank those parents who took the time to personally approach and thank the officers assigned to this task for their commitment and efforts.
